CEOM 2014 Year 12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Graduation

05 October 2014

The night commenced with an official Welcome to Country by Wurundjeri Elder, Uncle Colin Hunter.

Delsie Lillyst, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander with the Catholic Education Office Melbourne compiled a power point that featured 34 of our students.

The night was well attended by approximately 120 people. Guests included CEOM staff, VAEAI and staff from the various colleges. As each student was presented with a Wathaurong Glass plague and certificate, the parent, guardian or carer were given the opportunity to speak about their child/student. It certainly was an emotional time but also a joyous one at that.

The event was a successful night and in the words from one of the staff, just summarises it well ...

“ .... I just want to take the opportunity to extend my sincere thanks to you and your team for the wonderful graduation ceremony. It is a privilege to be a tiny part of the work you do and I was humbled by the love and depth of spirit in the room last night. You are wonderful and I hope you and your team continue to do this great work for many years to come. Gatherings like last night remind me why I became a teacher in the first place ... “ Mary Hennelly, Xavier College, Kew

and also a parent ...

“ .... An especially big thank you to all for the wonderful Celebration last night, it was so great to see so many of our kids finally completing VCE- what an achievement. You should all be very proud of the wonderful support you have given to all that needed it. It was wonderful to hear the story’s of struggle to eventual triumph - great Job done by all - sincere gratitude from me and also it was a great night “ Sherry Balcombe mother of Cameron..

The night would not have been as successful if it were not for the hard work of Delsie Lillyst, Helen Christensen and Catherine Henbest and the staff of CEOM.

Huge thanks and appreciation go out to
